This Research Area combines research in the areas of business creation, technology, and innovation management, innovation marketing, consumer behavior, technology transfer, and exploitation. It is at the heart of the vision of an integrated technical university and offers many opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.

This Research Area combines the traditional quantitative orientation of the faculty with the modernity of complex and networked management and decision-making situations. Applications can be found in numerous engineering optimization tasks, logistics, and health care, as well as in other research areas such as mobility and sustainability.

Global challenges for energy supply, mobility, and environmental protection are becoming increasingly complex and require innovative solutions. The economic issues addressed by this Research Area range from designing energy markets and policies, “green” technologies, and sustainable consumer behavior to planning and managing efficient and environmentally friendly flows of goods and information in supply networks.

AccredItationAssociation to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB)
The School of Business and Economics at RWTH Aachen University is one of the few faculties in Germany to bear the international seal of approval of the renowned accreditation agency Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The first accreditation of the faculty took place in April 2011, the successful re-accreditation in 2016 and 2021.

In the Academic Ranking Of World Universities by ShanghaiRanking 2021, RWTH Aachen also ranked among the top 10 for Germany, especially in the Engineering and Social Sciences, for example, 5th for Management and 8th in Business Administration.

In the WirtschaftsWoche ranking of the most research-intensive universities in German-speaking countries in Business Administration, the faculty ranked 13th out of around 200 universities. In Germany, this is the 9th place.
