Cambridge Ecosystem Lab 2022
What an amazing experience! For one week, from April 10 to 15, our students of the M. Sc. Management & Engineering in Technology, Innovation, Marketing & Entrepreneurship had the once in a lifetime opportunity to visit Cambridge Judge Business School for our Cambridge Ecosystem Practicum. Overall, 56 students grabbed their chance and joined this unforgettable adventure at the fourth-oldest university in the world, Cambridge University, UK.
Cambridge Ecosystem Practicum 2022
Understanding Innovation Ecosystems
The module led by Prof. Michael Barrett took a deep dive into the world of innovation ecosystems focusing not only on the creation of such a system but also on the roles each actor would play inside and how they depend on each other. In a combination of intensive lectures and workshops, the students analyzed capabilities of innovation ecosystems and learned how to orchestrate such systems successfully. During dynamic group work, they also worked on their skills for managing project teams. Finally, the teams had to pitch their idea in front of a jury. The different perspectives from diverse backgrounds coming together made the practicum an enriching and enlightening experience for all participants.
Networking at its best
The practicum was intense but there was also time for leisure activities like evening strolls around a city full of architectural buildings or traditional punting. A special highlight was the formal dinner with the lecturers for which all students suited up with elegant bow ties and beautiful dresses. To sum it up, it was all about creating memories together, bonding, and relationship building. For our students of the part-time mode it was also extra special because they were able to meet their peers in person for the very first time. Everyone experienced the power of networking and working together as well as the value of in person interactions, drawing upon knowledge and expertise from all different backgrounds, generating creative ideas and innovative approaches.
The students themselves described this week as “phenomenal”, “fantastic”, “amazing”, “inspiring”, “one of the best weeks of the program”, “a wonderful opportunity” and much more. We also had a splendid time and cannot wait to take the next cohort on this exciting adventure! A huge thank you to all the participants for making this week so special.
